Tuba Questions

I would categorize the Tuba into the Brass family. http://www.classicsforkids.com/terms/terms.asp?id=314
There is one Tuba player in the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra his name is Michael Thorton. http://www.cincinnatisymphony.org/Musicians/orchestra.asp
The player buzzes their lips while blowing air through a cup or funnel shaped mouth piece. It is different because the tubing ends in a bell. http://www.dsokids.com/2001/dso.asp?PageID=216
It has 16 feet of tubing. http://www.dsokids.com/2001/dso.asp?PageID=216
The shorter the tubing, the higher the sound. The longer the tubing, the lower the sound. All the player needs to do is change the amount of tubing be adding or taking away the amount of tubing in the instrument. http://www.dsokids.com/2001/dso.asp?PageID=216
If the player takes away some of the tubing they will have a higher sound. http://www.dsokids.com/2001/dso.asp?PageID=216
No, you can not play the Tuba standing up because the instrument is to big. http://www.dsokids.com/2001/dso.asp?PageID=216
You would use the Brass clef to play music for the Tuba. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuba
The instruments that take place of a Tuba in a marching band is the Trumpet and Trombone. http://www.dsokids.com/2001/instrumentchart.htm
The Tuba has a hard sound to it and it seems to change pitches a lot. http://www.dsokids.com/2001/dso.asp?PageID=216

1. I would catorigize the trombone into the Brass family.
2. There are two trombone players in the cincinnati symphony Orchestra and their names are Cristian Ganicenco and Lee Rogers.
3. The player buzzes his or her lips while blowing air into a cup or funnel shaped mouthpiece. It isnt different than what a Trumpet player does.
4. The tubing is 6-1/2 feet long.
5. The player just adds more tubing to the instrument or they can take some of it away to make the sound change.
6. If it had less tubing it would have a higher sound.
7. Yes, there are trombones with valves Mr. Watras.
8. It is written with the Brass Clef, but sometimes it is written with the Tenor Clef or Alto Clef.
9. Yes, depending on the amount of Tubing it has in the instrument.

1. I Would catorigize the Trumpet into the Brass Family.
2. There are two Trumpet players in the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Their names are Phillip Collins and Steven Pride.
3. To Produce sound the player has to produce a buzzing sound with his/her lips while blowing air through a cup of funnel shaped mouthpiece.
4. To produce the best sound on a Trumpet you would need about 6 and a half feet of tubing.
5. To change the amount of tubing on the Trumpet all you need to do is add more into the Trumpet to produce a different sound.
6. The more tubing you have in the Trumpet the lower the sound is going to be.
7. The valves on the Trumpet are used to change the pitch. The valves are the little button type things on the top of the Trumpet.
8. To play music with the Trumpet you would use a treble clef.
9. Yes, you can do this by adding more tubing to the instrument.

1. I would catorigize the French Horn in the brass family.
2. There are 6 French horn players in the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, their Names are Elizabeth Freimuth, Thomas Sherwood, Gene Berger, Duane Dugger, Robert Schauer, and Charles Bell.
3. The player has to Buzz her/his lips while they are blowing air through a funnel or cup shaped mouth piece, that is what they do with their lips to produce a note.
4. The tubing on the French Horn is 12 feet 4.5 inches.
5. You can change the length of the tube, if you want a depressed valve, you have to add extra tubing. doing this lengthens the air column.
6. The French Horn would sound depressed. the valves in the French Horn Change sound when you add or take away tubing.
7. When you put your hand in the bell, you are supporting the instrument. If you change the position of your hand in the bell, your sound can be refined. Also by putting your hand in the bell, you can alter the otes pitch and mute it.
8. To write music for the French Horn you would use either a Bass clef or a treble clef.
9. No it was first thought of and invented in England as a hunting horn around 1650.
10. I think that the French Horn sounds bold and it sounds like it would be in a horror movie during a scary part.

the wave that makes a higher pitch is the bigger wave because you need to blow into the instrument a lot of air. So that would mean that the wave with a lower pitch is the smaller waves. i think it would be easier to produce a smaller wave.

I think it would be more interesting to play a lower pitched instrunment because you dont have to worry as much about loosing yoyr breath while you are playing because you dont have to blow enough air into the instrument as you would have to with a higher pitched instrument. If you are playing a higher pitched instrument you have to blow more air and you have to blow in it more stronger so the pitch would stay constant! now, if you were playing a lower pitched instrument you wouldnt have to blow that hard into the instrument.
